I played football with Tom and then one day we found ourselves playing against each other in an exhibition game. This was a year or more after Highschool graduation. He was with the Ramblers, a semi-pro team and I was with the local hodgepodge they put together on Whidbey Island to play against them. We chatted in the locker room. He was very proud of having played at Shoreline.

Tom and I were good friends at Ridgecrest Elementary. Sometimes we walked up the hill to the Ridgecrest stores and spent our lunch money on junk food. He was a nice guy.

I also played football with Tom and with all my other teammates - I cannot express how much I have appreciated the opportunity to be a Spartan and a teammate - one of the founding highlights of my life - thank you Tom

A sad day indeed.. we lost a good friend and a warrior. He was an absolute stude player on Shoreline's football team for several years. A mountain of a man. Scary wide shoulders. He almost didn't need shoulder pads. Like Bill Hill Montgomery said about semi-pro football after high school, I too played on Tom's team for several years. Bill says it was the Ramblers, I seem to remember it being called the Wildcats of Everett. My memory is not as good as it used to be and Bill's probably right. No matter, it was great fun and great camaraderie with teammates. We got paid with beer and pizza :-).

Speaking about food, I remember one time when I was a starving part-time student in college, Tom came by my apartment. He said he wanted to take me out to dinner and I jumped at the chance. Then he told me it was Chinese food, which I couldn't stand and frequently gagged on when I ate. However I was so hungry, I didn't care and to this day, Chinese food is one of my favorites. Thank you Tommy...RIP my friend!
